I was continuously surprised with how comfortable and affirming, while remaining business-like and unassuming, John could be. I have never encountered a computer tech who not only never made me feel I had a stupid question, but seemed to anticipate problems before I realized they would be a problem! He was very prompt in returning my calls and never left me hanging if I had a crisis. He always seemed to go the extra mile and made sure I really understood what I was doing. My experience with him encouraged me to go on and improve my database until I felt I had it exactly like I wanted it. I only (selfishly) wish he were available still at Northwestern University. I did not realize how lucky I was until he was gone!

My Thoughts: Training needs to be supported outside of the classroom's walls. Making time for questions after the initial training session is just one way I support my training practice. I follow up with participants to check on progress and send hints and tips on how to continue learning after the classes are over. If I can manage to keep training in the forefront of my participants minds, they will soon start teaching themselves, and others, new things.
